ESIIG 2 Official Proceedings

The ESIIG2 Staff ended the publication of the ESIIG2 Official Proceedings of the Second European Summit on Interoperability in the iGovernment, held in Rome, 20-22 October 2008. The Volume has been organized by Regione Lazio, Regional Ministry for Consumer Protection and Administrative Simplification, in collaboration with LAit, Lazio Innovazione Tecnologica, società regionale per l’informatica e la telematica.

The Volume is divided into eight chapters that show the most important activities, the documents created and the real objectives reached at the end of the Summit.

The first chapter retrace the chronicle of the first European Summit on Interoperability in the iGovernment, organized in Valencia (Spagna) in 2006, to give a general overview on ESIIG2, a description of the programme, of the supporters and the parallel events.

The second Chapter offers a general overview of the most important activities of the Regional Ministry for Consumer Protection and Administrative Simplification, while the third chapter analyses specifically the Structure of the Technical and Scientific Committee and his Members, experts in the field of interoperability.

The fourth chapter is focalised on the initiatives realized in occasiono f ESIIG2, as the Call for Papers, Agorà,iG2.0 Award and the Forum, interactive tools useful fora n active participation of the public and experts of the field.

The fifth chapter represents the most important part of the Volume, that brings together all the Papers submitted by the Authors for the Summit. Papers have an high scientific-profile and are realized by experts of the ICT, of the Academic world and important personalities in the field of interoperability. The next chapter is dedicated to the contributions of the Technical and Scientific Committee, that collaborated to the realization of the Summit and to the publication of the ICAR report, that gives a general overview on Interoperability and Cooperative Application among the Italian Regions.

The penultimate chapter, instead, represents a listo of the finalists of the iG2.0 Award, conferred to the most outstanding action or initiative in the field of interoperability.

Finally, the last chapter represents a detailed description of the real results obtained after the Summit: in particular, the first and important step towards interoperability has been realized  with the Rome Declaration, a document that defines a significant and important element  for the birth and development of new and strong relationships and synergies at European level for achievement of the Lisbona objectives and i2010.
