Call for Papers - Regulations
  • Object of the Papers
    Because of one of the main objectives of the ESIIG initiative, since the first edition,  has been to put in common the current practices in the field of interoperability in the European eGovernment at local, regional, national and European level, will be specially appreciated those papers focused on the actions, plans, projects and initiatives in the field of the interoperability in the eGovernment, as well as about the difficulties and priorities to face in order to reach a unique interoperable iGovernment in Europe.

  • Papers submission

    The Papers must be sent via email to the following address esiig2@regione.lazio.it prior on-line registration to the Summit website www.esiig2.it

    • Submitted papers should be original and must be written in English. Submission of the paper at the Summit is free of charge.
    • In order for the papers to be managed in the most accurate way possible, we ask you to follow the format points described directly in the Template downloadable at the “Call for Papers” page onwww.esiig2.it
    • In order for the papers collection to be as homogeneous as possible we ask you to explain and elaborate in the paper the following points:
      • Reference background
      • Description of the action/plan/project/initiative
      • Impact and results
      • Lesson learned
      • Future developments

  • Format regulations
    • All papers must be sent in digital format DOC, or a compatible one;
    • The papers length cannot be less than 4 pages and cannot exceed 10 pages;
    • It is possible to include images and chartsfor a more effective clarity of the exposure.
    • The template is available at the Call for papers page, it is also possible to make a specific request by sending an email to esiig2@regione.lazio.it

  • Evaluation criteria

    The Technical and Scientific Committee will evaluate the submitted papers according to the following criteria:

    • Originality and relevance to the argument;
    • Technical quality of the paper;
    • Innovation of the technology examined;
    • Level of representativeness of the Public Administrations, especially at regional level;
    • Level of involvement of the users;
    • Exposure clarity.

  • Notifications and Intellectual Property
    All participants will be informed, through the email address provided at registration, and by the dates indicated below (see “Important Dates”) of the status of acceptance of their paper.
    In case of undelivered notification, it is possible to ask the Organizing Secretariat for information by sending an email toesiig2@regione.lazio.it . Intellectual contents of each Paper remain of the sole property of the author, who makes a commitment to submit original papers and not subjects to any kind of bond. The author of the paper authorizes the Organizing Secretariat of ESIIG 2  to reproduce and diffuse the paper in the modalities it finds fit to promote the Summit and the aforementioned author, who renounces any compensation or claim on it.
    In order to regulate issues, the authors of the selected papers, will sign and send the appropriate “Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 Unported” module to the Organizing Secretariat of ESIIG 2 in the last official submission phase.

  • Areas of Interest

    Contributions are sought in the scope of the following themes (non comprehensive list):

    • Interoperability as a key enabler for Public Administration transparency, administrative simplification, citizens’ and companies’ participation in the decision-making process;
    • European Interoperability Frameworks: technological, organizational, semantic, juridical and cultural models.
    • Technological neutrality and interoperability: Open source solutions and experiences;
    • Interoperability as the key enabler for interregional cooperation: Experiences and opportunities of European networks;
    • Standardization in Interoperability;
    • Interoperability for the management of digital identities (such as the use of smart cards for the identification and access to services);
    • Interoperability laboratories;
    • Regional, European and international best practices in interoperability;
    • eInclusion and Interoperability;
    • Interoperability and digital contents;
    • Enterprise Architecture Framework experiences.
