28-10-2008 -

ESIIG2, the Second European Summit on Interoperability in the iGovernment, held in Roma in Villa Piccolomini, on October, 22th, had a great success!
The Summit hosted more than three hundreds participants and personalities coming from the Academic, institutional and  political field, and experts of the ICT sector. Some of the most important subjects analyzed  during the Summit, has been: interoperability in Europe and his Regions, the multidimensional aspect of interoperability, the next challenges of interoperability. A concrete step towards the future has been realized with the Declaration of Rome that represents, following  the work started with the Valencia Declaration in 2006, an important document and a significant  key element as regards the birth and development of new relationships and strong synergies in Europe for the achievement of the Lisbona objectives and i2010.The Declaration of Roma has two important objectives:  the creation of an Interoperability European Agency “ as a community tool to promote interoperability among European Administrations”; and the promotion of the network ERNI ( European Regional Network for Interoperability), a network able to put in common the local and international experiences as regards the computerization of services, with the aim of  comparing the results achieved in the iGovernment sector from the different European countries, but also to discuss new ideas and innovative projects, with the ambition of contributing to the realization of a “ European Knowledge Society”.
The text of the Declaration will be now  transmitted to the Commission and the European Parliament, to the Government of the 27 States of the Union, and to the Regional Authorities.
